Biography

Tamta Tatarashvili received her Master’s degree in Gender Studies in 2009 in a joint master’s program of Tbilisi State University and the Center for Social Sciences. The topic of the master’s thesis was feminine and masculine tv genres on the example of Georgian Public Broadcaster. In 2009-2014, she worked on projects aimed at empowering of rural women and girls for Taso Foundation, Women’ Fund and Memory Research Center. In 2010-2019 Tamta collaborated with the Heinrich Boell Foundation South Caucasus regional office on various projects, in 2010 she hold a scholarship of the Foundation and studied the issues of female and male representations in Georgian cinema. In 2017-2019, with the support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation, she conducted a research project “Feminist Mother’s Diaries”, in the framework of which she researched the experiences of motherhood in different regions of Georgia. In 2019-2020 Tamta collaborated with various local organizations on cultural and political understandings of motherhood practices.
