The project ‘Tbilisi as an Urban Assemblage’ (financed by Rustaveli Science Foundation) and the Anthropology Doctorate program presents research seminar which will be held via zoom session on 11th of February, 2022.

The title of the presentation will be “Re-thinking Urbanism in Armenia”. Presenter – Sarhat Petrosyan.

Sarhat will present UrbanLab which is a Yerevan-based independent urban think-do-share lab, aimed to promote democratization of urban landscape toward sustainable development in its broader understanding. He will talk about several important projects developed in Armenia and the Gagarin Project which was done in collaboration with Netherlands-based architecture and urban design studio MVRDV.

Sarhat Petrosyan holds M.S. in Architecture and Ph.D. in Urban Planning from National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia. During 2004-2017 he worked as an Associate Professor at the Chair of Urban Planning of the same university. In 2011 he founded urbanlab which is a Yerevan based urban think-do-share lab and directed till his appointment as the head of the Cadastre Committee of Armenia in 2018. After resignation in 2019 he focused on his design office SP2 | Design & Planning. He is the author of around twenty publications and also articles on urban design qualities and policies on urban development. In 2016 he was appointed curator of Armenian National Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
