The Cultural and Social Anthropology Research Center of Ilia State University was established in 2024. The primary objective of the center is to produce high-quality research in the anthropological field at an international level and integrate the research process into the teaching curriculum. In order to effectively tackle contemporary societal challenges, the Anthropology Research Center emphasizes close collaboration with various scientific institutions and branches worldwide.
The center engages in the following key activities:
- Conducting both fundamental and applied scientific research
- Publishing research findings in reputable international scientific journals
- Securing funding through grants and other means
- Organizing and participating in conferences and workshops
- Supporting and promoting young researchers
In the planning of research projects, the center prioritizes strengthening the connection between research and education at the master’s and doctoral levels. Equally important is the center’s aim to generate interest and attract undergraduate students to pursue post-baccalaureate studies.
Since 2015, the center has hosted an ongoing research seminar series in collaboration with the Anthropology Doctoral Program.
Currently, the center does not receive any funding from the university, but it actively seeks external funding to support additional activities.
